First, the laminate floor base consists of pressed chipped wood particles. Second, the top has the appearance of real wood due to the accurate image layer—essentially a well-rendered photograph of wood encased in a clear, durable wear layer.
Aggregated wood particles are subjected to high pressure to form sheets. These sheets have a photo-realistic image of wood or stone added to the top, and this image is covered with a wear layer. The wear layer, a durable, thin, clear plastic sheet, is the linchpin between the delicate lower layers and exterior elements such as moisture, UV rays, and scratching.

What is Laminate Flooring Made Of?
Broadly speaking, laminate flooring is composed of three layers. From the bottom, they are:
1.A dense core or base layer of plywood or high-density fiberboard to give the material strength and stability. This base is the same one used in many of the best engineered wood flooring products.
2.A high-resolution, photo-realistic image layer. Again, this image layer usually mimics wood—but you can find stone-look and even metal-look variants.
3.A protective wear layer to provide hardness and protection. This layer is extremely tough, making laminate one of the most durable flooring options around.

Wear-layer is the protection on the melamine color paper,it is wearing-off determines the abrasion class of the laminate flooring.Every plank reaches the EN13329 standard and pass the wear-off cycles for all levels AC1-AC5.
